WHAT I'M TRYING TO SHOW HERE IS THAT IF ONE THING ABOUT A COMPANY, PERSON, ORGANIZATION OR ENTITY IS PHONEY, OTHER THINGS PROBABLY ARE TOO
Discovery
I am no genius with HTML (my hypertext mark up language), but even I could tell by looking at Ty's HTML that something was fishy. They have a counter is at http://comm1.digits.com/wc/-d/6/-f/ff0000/bongo. Go there to see their real hits on their domain pages. I'm not even sure that the counter at comm1.digits.com is for real either, because since I posted this site, it seems to have speeded up too. They have since I posted this changed it, but I save some screen captures to show how they were hiding the other counter. I can't get Ty to comment on this, but why couldn't they display a real counter like everyone else? Why were they hiding the counter in the little one pixel dot image? Your guess is as good as mine.Their other counter is back up after being removed for awhile on January 1st, but if you notice the little dot is gone from their page now. They also have several mirrored domains at cable.ty.com, neck.ty.com, beaniebabies.com, bow.ty.com, and bolo.ty.com
New Discovery
Here are Ty's real stats since November of 1996. You can check out the stats for yourself at http://www.digits.com/top/comm_10.html. As you can see below this screen shot Ty's hidden counter showed 52 million, but the actual stats on the page of the company that was doing their web auditing says 29 million. You can even see when the counter was created and reset by going here. http://comm1.digits.com/wc?--info=yes&--name=bongo. Exactly how bogus is all of this? You tell me. Ty simply wants you to believe his pages are much more popular than they really are. Still having problems with it? Let's do the math. As of today Ty is claiming 2,367,129,085 hits with an average of 48,743 hits per day. So take the 2,367,129,085 divided by 48,743 = 48,563 days. Divide that by 365 days per year. That is more than 133 years worth of hits, and Ty Warner just wasn't around then. How much of a lie can you take from a company and still support them? You can check out the stats yourself until Ty gets that changed too. By the way, the counter at that site quit going up on New Years Day when they removed the reference to it from their page after I posted that it was there.
The Hidden Counter HTML Code
For those of you who care to investigate the counter they put back up, try this. Go to http://www.ty.com. Let the page load completely. notice the last four digits of the counter. Hit reload once util you see the counters last four digits again, then hit reload again untiol you see it magically jump a 89 hits. continue this sequence of reloading until you see it jump again. You can also load this url in your browser and hit the reload button to see what happens a little easier. http://www.ty.com/cgi-bin/counter.cgi I admit Ty gets probabably a hit every two seconds, but not a hundred repeatedly in one second. The pattern of the counter is the same too. When I first put this site up it was using the numbers from 181-192, then jumping to 281-292, then 381-392, and so on and so on. It is currently using 181-192 then jumping to 281-292, then on to 381-392. See the pattern. Try it for yourself until it jumps a thousand. They may, and have changed the last three digits in the counter, but it still jumps 89 after about 11 actual hits. You will see at this rate, it wouldn't take long to rack up a sizeable amount of hits. Below is the actual counter that was in the 1 pixel image. This is what it looks like when you set the attributes of the height to 20, and width to 150.
THE ABOVE IS A GRAPHICAL IMAGE NOT A SCREEN SHOT.
Screen Shots
This screen capture was taken on 12/23/98 ion the morning hours. See the little tiny dot just above the 90 and below the point of the arrow I made. That is the counter at digits.com. Pretty sneaky right?? What else does Ty do that is sneaky? It's just like President Clinton. I really didn't care whether or not he had an affair. It is not morally right to be a public figure and an example for our children and have an adulterous affair, but it was terribly wrong to tell the bold face lie to the public, and especially after being sworn to tell the truth. When someone does something like this, you just cannot trust them anymore. So what else has Ty lied about? Did they really run out of fabric to make Beanie Buddies with, or was it a scam to get people to buy them because they knew they would snatch them up when they said to expect a retirement? If I was going to start a new line of toys, I would make sure that I had enough supplies to manufacture the product. That is only common sense. Is it really right to retire a bunch of the Beanie Babies and then months after they retired send them out by the caseloads to the retail stores like they did Blizzard, Jolly, Twigs, Gracie and others?
PEOPLE TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE NO AFFECT ON A LARGE CORPORATION LIKE TY, BUT HIS COUNTER HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM HIS MAIN PAGE. MAYBE THERE HAD BEEN SOMETHING TO HIDE AND NO ONE HAD BOTHERED CHECKING BEFORE. I JUST WONDER IF ANY OTHER QUESTIONS I RAISED WILL BE ADDRESSED. WE CAN ONLY HOPE THAT TY WARNER HAS SEEN THIS SITE HIMSELF AND WILL NOW TAKE MEASURES TO CORRECT WHAT HAS TRANSPIRED. HE MAY JUST REMOVE THE COUNTER AND NEVER SAY A WORD, BUT I'LL WAIT AND SEE. THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Someone just e-mailed me and told me Ty's counter was back up and probably just taken down due to high traffic. Below is a screen shot of the current counter. Save it to your computer, or go to Ty's page. The little 1x1 pixel dot is not there. Look at their HTML. Save the page to your hard drive start notepad and open the file. There is not a reference anywhere to comm1 digits.com. Why did they take that off. I guess the timing was convenient so they could have an excuse, but their real counter from comm1.digits.com is still on my index page. Where did that little jewel come from. I didn't just make it up. Lots of people have seen it and checked it out. So with these graphic images, they just have an independant program sitting and running on their sight that either actually counts pages, or does it by seconds that pass, or whatever they want it to do. But I can't see that the counter is the real problem anyway. That was just an example of something that was in my opinion suspicious and deceitful. The whole problem are Ty's policies, annd the failure to stand behind his word. I cannot prove whether this current counter is legitimate or not, but if I ever can, I will, and you can count (sorry about the pun) on that.
